Whether you are enrolled at your local community college or attend an on-line university, distance learning can help students continue their education from the comforts of their own home. Although you are not required to attend classes on-campus, the discipline and structure you would have by doing so will still be necessary for success. Attending classes away from campus requires a lot of responsibility and is not a decision to be taken lightly.
Classes offered by your local Community College may require students to come to the campus testing center for the tests given in each coarse you are taking. This maybe as often as biweekly and can be a great way to keep on track. Whereas, on-line university's do not have this rule, you do not have to physically appear for any part of your classes. This gives students more freedom but at the same time more responsibility to stay on schedule.
When attending off-campus classes, you will need to prepare yourself with a learning environment, free from distractions or interruptions. A structured schedule, allotting enough time on a regular basis for you to complete assignments and get involved with your subject. If you need assistance, it is not advised to wait or delay getting the help you require. Doing so can begin a chain reaction that could cost you a passing grade in the long run. It can be difficult to get caught up once you fall too far behind, since there are no physical instructors available.
Help is available in various forms but you have to seek what you need. Help will not notice you, you will have to recognize when you need assistance and request it. I know from experience that these on-line instructors, as well as campus distance educators, want you to be successful and will go to lengths to help thier students. In fact, I feel like the on-line instructors are more attentive when it comes to students asking questions or not understanding their lessons. Take advantage of thier hospitality, they are there for you.
Many on-line university's have small, local campuses where students can attend tutoring or get help if needed. There are also forums available, on-line, but posting questions there will take time to get a response back. Both types of learning can be beneficial for students and can also help you gain the additional education you need with less interference in your already busy life.
Distance learning is a wonderful opportunity to advance yourself in life and in the workforce. Students, new and continuing, can achieve success without the difficulties involved with attending classes on campus. Distance learning is a great time-saving way to earn the degree you have dreamed of having, especially if you thought you couldn't.
