Poetry: Time passes

by M. Joseph

Created on: January 17, 2009

Tick!

A second gone.

Multiplied by the

Hours.

Days.

Weeks.

Months.

Years.

Of a life.

In earlier years,

Time was a distant

Uncle.

You met him at

Birthdays and Christmas,

You knew he would come,

You were excited,

But the time in

Between was

Long.

Growing.

Faster, older now.

Time is a pest.

He sweeps by quickly.

Days are over as quickly

As they have

Begun.

Birthdays, Christmas

Come and go with

Breaths.

Before you can ask

Time to slow

Down,

You've lost him.

He's there,

You can feel it.

In your bones.

In the aches and
Pains old age

Brings with it.

You know Time

Is around,

He's a

Friend now.

A constant companion.

Time goes neither

Quickly nor

Slowly,

It just happens.

And in the
Blink of an

Eye,

Time is there

Again, opening his

Hands, showing you

He has nothing

Left.

Tick!

No more seconds.

Hours.

Days.

Weeks.

Months.

Years.

No more Time.

An old friend

Lost to

You.
