Creativity and a sense of humor is a great combination in my estimation. I know some people that are good at both and do them often with tremendous success. I hope to interest you with my skills of those with my poem. More importantly,my wish is to have you get right into this prose and have some fun by laughing and pretending right along with me. It is the child in us that comes out to play with vim and vigor when something brings out that part of us that is hiding away under the facade of adulthood. We can encourage that lightheartedness to come to the surface and absolutely loose ourselves as we envision ourselves in the painted picture with words.
I began writing about 5 years ago by letting my true inner feelings come out of me onto the poetry stanzas. I found the more I read and write, the more I want to do each of those things. Many of my poems are first person, however sometimes I hear something from another person that spurs a write.
This poem is from my brain of imagination.
"What if I were small?"
Suppose I was only very small, everything would be so different you see
If I were little, life would be other than what it is now for me.
Showering and bathing would be an impossible chore
The first step into the tub might take a week or more.
Only a thimble full of water would be enough to wash
A inch of sponge would help to lather up, by gosh.
14 cotton puffs could be my bed, for me to use each night
A paper back book around, would stave off the moon's bright light.
My computer key board would be way too high for me to reach
Skipping school would be usual, since I'd not be seen to teach.
Just one Dorito could be a weekly snack, if I were so tiny
Using a dime's reflection would be my mirror, so shiny.
Part of a broom's stalk would be my hair brush each day
No one would see me so I'd be able to just play, play, play.
Playing with dust bunnies under the bed would be so much fun
Can you guess how small I am before this poem is done?
It would be easy to go in and out of a grocery or department store
However, purchasing anything would be a very hard chore.
All the time I would spend on trying to get somewhere
And all the money I would save, I'd be a millionaire.
My cats would wonder what happened, to get me so small
I'd need to be really careful, since they would be very tall.
It would take a small me, so much time to create a poem or two
As a matter of fact, this took me a month to get this written for you.
I have not grown at all, in that time, so I am still very small
If you have not already guessed by now, I am a mere 2 inches tall.
