How to learn the art of tact

Tactful yet Firm

DaddyLongLive: " For someone who is wont to be peaceable, I notice that ShoulderWithChip takes offense at seemingly petty complaints. That chip on her shoulder is just waiting for someone to knock it off. Notice her latest verbal crossfire:"

ShoulderWithChip: "Oh, yeah! Is that your method, and is it kind and mild tempered, gentle in your way of doing things, and seeking to promote good relations with others even when they are abrasive? Is it long-suffering and calm to the last?"

DaddyLongLive: I try to be tactful, but you are the enquirer, and you may be eager for my answer, but you may be seeking information for which you are not entitled. Are you the tactful seeker, or the one desirous of seeking peace to pursue it not wanting to irritate others? Do you want to help, not offend, or hinder? I need to be careful of questions that appear loaded, because it is likened to an iceberg; most of its substantial part is hidden below surface.

ShoulderWithChip: "Don't you accuse me of targeted or loaded questions! I am never at a loss to find words fitting and acceptable at the convenient time. Albeit, sometimes my thoughts can come in bits and pieces, especially when answers are demanded under duress. My thoughts can be like potpourri, but with words that can be painted or typed out in a well-defined manuscript. Even though they are fragmented thoughts in pieces ensconced in circles; later we make out of them sentences to make phrases that make sense, and finally paragraphs to make up a complete article."

DaddyLongLive: "Don't feel like you are the one being accused, interrogated, and demoralized; thinking nothing I say or do is good enough. What Eliphaz said about humans being worthless is human reasoning. Eliphaz was one of the three visitors who spend seven days and seven nights silently observing Job's excruciating pain and extreme humiliation. Speeches, as well as the speeches of his companions that follow, is made up largely of accusations. I certainly refuse to have nothing uncomforting to say about God and his promises because my comments lack spirituality." (Job 4:1-9)

"What are you repudiating, are you unable to accept the reasoning, because it may be false? What if it is true, are you unable to understand why God has permitted your suffering, and so you become overly concerned about justifying yourself? Jehovah's thoughts are higher: the thoughts of you people are not my thoughts, neither are your ways my ways.'" (Isaiah 55:9)
