Siamese cats are extremely rewarding cats to keep as pets. Aside from their lovable personality and undying loyalty, Siamese cats resemble dogs in a number of ways!
The most interesting behavioral trait commonly found in Siamese cats is their ability to fetch. A rare behavior in most cats, a Siamese feline knows almost instinctively to retrieve toys that are thrown. For example, if you were to chuck a small mouse with a bell, she or he will quickly learn to bring it back to you in their mouths and drop it squarely in your lap. Most times, these kitties will want to play fetch for a longer time than you'd want to play with them!
Another great Siamese trait is their almost human vocal patterns. A Siamese cat vocalizes far more often than a common tabby or American shorthair, and a fun game to play is to mimic their meowing with your own. Each time she or he vocalizes, give your best rendition of his or her noise, and s/he'll likely return that sound with another. As a Siamese owner myself, I've sometimes had 10 or more minute "conversations" with my cat in a variety of pitches and timbers.
By far, however, the best trait about a Siamese cat is the undying love for his or her owner. Many cats of this species, including my own, seem to be made of Velcro, sticking immediately to your lap as soon as you sit down. Her purring is a calming show of love, and oddly, if you try to remove him or her from your lap, they will stalk slowly back onto your lap as if you didn't notice them.
Easy to care for, and worth every penny, a Siamese cat is sure to give you and your family years of excellent companionship, clean living, and never-ending affection... as long as you feed him or her well!
