I am convinced that most people will never have the pleasure to know or understand what genuine love is. I also realize that if we could really grasp what loving someone means, the devotion and commitment that stands behind our proclamation, that perhaps we would choose to use the word "Love" far less and would value saying it more selectively. Love is unable to be selfish or caught up in I did, you didn't; thus creating another sort of war we were never prepared for. Givers and takers we often times call people. One gives, and the other receives, but does it mean that because we gave that it was out of love, and not in hopes to get something back? Think honestly about that and then read on.
Everyone claims that they just want to be loved. It's fair to say that we all want to be loved from the inside out. In the grand scheme of things we all desire to be wanted and adored. We want to be taken in by the perfect person who completes us and where we are so weak that we can hardly speak in their presence.
We need to be loved because our whole entire being was created to love and to be loved. Just how we have been taught to love according to society though? We have taken the place in our heart that was only designed for the Lord, and fallen in love with what seems to be everything else but Him.
We have taken our pleasures and placed our love on things and events and people more than on the Lord above who created us! Apart from His love, we will only self destruct and we will never really know what it would have been like to really love, or be loved back. The wholeness and completeness that can only be found in Him will never be found in anything else.
Even if it looks like God sent something to you, if you put more importance on that than loving God, you will still be incomplete. Any joy or fulfillment that we are supposed to experience will fade until you realize that God designed you that way. You are supposed to know His love so much that the moment you stray, it hurts so badly inside that you run back to the Father because you know that you can't
survive a moment's breath without your savior.
One thing that I believe is that the "feeling" that comes over us is most often mistaken for being love, rather than recognizing that it is indeed infatuation. Infatuation is defined as: foolish and usually extravagant passion or love or
admiration puppy love: temporary love of an adolescent, an object of extravagant short-lived passion...
