The Football league is the heart and soul of football these days, go back 20, 30, 50 years when every one was more passionate about football for being football and not all about the money like the premiership is.!

The good old days of two near enough equal teams actually playing the good old hard graft game of football lives on in the Football League, upon recently seeing my beloved Colchester United get beat but Walsall in a 2-1 home defeat i realized football is not all about the big money, big names and glamour that runs in football, its about the 3-6 thousands hardcore fans who go to watch their locals side every week battling to survive and fight their way up the table.

All the glamour of the top flight makes the club turn into a business venture and takes away from the history of the clubs who do make it there. It strips their grass roots away and changes everything. Yeah sure we would all like Ronaldo , Rooney Torres or Kaka playing on our hallow turfs one day but our clubs are about, pride, passion and us the fans. When the club gets too big its not longer about the fans its about the money, we get left behind! Us fans keep our clubs going so we are the future and our children are the distant future for our clubs aswell.

So if you want to experience the true essence of football go to your local football league side and watch a game and you will realize why you actually liked football to begin with.

The samller clubs need us real hardcore fans to help them survive and keep them going. With all the effort the community spirt involved in the smaller clubs us fans need to give something back. Question why you support your big superstar club and see if it is not just the glamour and your mates do the pub you are trying to impress. I'd be more impressed if my pals down the pub said they supported their local non-league non-professional side.!

Also every small side clubs will tell ou how exciting a cup run can actually be especially in the FA Cup, i remember Colchester playing the mighty Chelsea, the effect that it had on the fans and the club was great, even more so for the fans who had followed Colchester around the Country to side like Swindon (no offense) & Brentford. There is more magic and passion in the football league than there will ever be in the top flight.

So you have read my article tell me what do you think? Do you agree? Are you a top flight fan or a lower leagued follower? Comment away and lets see what all us fans really think? !

I think the main word in this title in "fans" and we need to put the emphasis on it when writing about it. What is a fan?

It would be ridiculous to argue that the Championship and Leagues One and Two have more to offer soccer fans than the Premiership.

I wonder how the title to this argument came about. There are two ways to go about putting in my 2 cents worth. One, what
