Poetry: Birth of a child

by elizabeth bliss

Created on: January 16, 2009

Little fingers and little toes,

tiny eyes, and tiny nose.

I have been dreaming of you,

a mother to you is all I want to do.

A tiny little person to laugh and giggle,

a tiny little baby who can only wiggle.

I've wanted you for so long,

You have always been my hearts song.

Your always learning and always growing,

you are what keeps my happiness flowing.

A tiny little heart beat,

Giving birth to you, for me became a life or death feat.

So fragile and small,

To have you stay I would give all.

Laying in a plastic box,

your feet too small for socks.

My heart aches to take you home,

I can't stand to leave you all alone.

Tubes and wires flow from a body thats weak,

The days without you here, seem so empty and bleak.

You are my heart,

I can't stand to part.

Grow bigger and stronger,

and soon you'll be there no longer.

Your crib lay empty and cold,

my body feels weak and old.

Come home my little boy,

so you can fill my life with joy.
