The debate over whether homosexuals are born with mismatched chromosomes or they become homosexuals of their own accord, has been ongoing since the beginning of time. To allow gays to be ordained as pastors in Christian churches goes against everything that the Christian church stands for.

In the Bible, God's displeasure of homosexuals is illustrated in the story of Sodom and Gomorrah. God becomes angry with the immoral, perverse acts that are carried out among its people by enacting His wrath in order to banish all sin from the people.

Being homosexual is a choice in sexual preferences. It is not a mistake God made when creating an individual in the womb. A person is not born homosexual. It is a lifestyle choice that a person makes at a given point in his or her life. This can come about through sexual experimentation, curiosity, or due to the lack of the presence of a mother or father in an individual's life upon growing up.

The act of engaging in pre-marital sex is a sin in itself. God created sex for the sake of the marriage covenant, with marriage being defined as that which includes a partnering of a man and a woman.

In the book of Genesis, God's intent is never made clearer than when he creates Adam and decides that man should not be alone. God did not create another man from Adam's ribs in order to provide a partner for Adam. We know from following the story that Eve was created to give Adam companionship.

It would seem difficult to understand how any homosexual can consider themselves a Christian when in essence they are living a lifestyle of their choosing that is so blatantly against everything God stands for.

To allow homosexuals to lead a church would be like God allowing homosexuality to reign in the world without any worry of consequence. Heterosexual Christians would find it extremely difficult to embrace a pastor who professed to be gay. Although it says in the Bible to love our neighbor as thyself, Christians would not be in favor of following a leader whose morals and personal convictions were so misaligned with God's.

Unfortunately, as time goes on, homosexuality and sin among man will continue to be on the rise. While God is against all things that are displeasing to Him, part of His bigger plan for all of us, is to allow things to happen for the sake of mankind. It's highly likely that we will see the church open itself up to the idea of gays taking the pulpit, leading the church, and further working to secure their place in society in the one area that is most opposing by God. Should Christian churches allow gays to be ordained as pastors? The answer would be a resounding no. Will this come to pass? Most likely. As Christians our greatest hope might be that the hearts of gays will be changed so that they will live according to God's teachings so that as pastors they may truly honor God in every sense of the word.
