I can honestly say that I love my job...well jobs. First I am a wife, second I am a mother, and third I am an EMT(emergency medical technician). I love each job for different reasons, but I love them equally. As far as my technical job being an EMT, it has become one of the most rewarding things I could have ever done.

My days no matter how busy or how stressful, at the end of each day I always feel as though I made a difference to at least one person, whether it be just a shoulder to cry on, or to ease their pain or try to make them feel better. My time with each patient is brief but each one leaves a lasting impression on me. Good or bad.

Each morning while I put on my uniform and strap on my boots, I look forward to the days challenges. Each call different and requiring something new even if it may seem as though it's the same old stuff to others.

When the alarms sound after 5 years my heart races, and I am taken over by a pure adrenaline rush. Lights flashing and sirens blaring, weaving through traffic trying to make it to someone who needs me. Rain or shine, hail sleet or snow, within minutes I will be at their door ready to help ready to serve.

I don't mind being called out to an elderly person who has virtually been left alone and are just scared and lonely. I won't complain about having to sit and talk. I won't feel bad about trying to make them feel better. I won't mind walking through their home making sure all the windows and doors are secured. I help because I care, not just because I it's my job, and not just because I get paid for it.

No matter the time day or night, I am always ready to help you or your loved ones. I may spend a bit of time away from my own family, but they know why I do it. You should know that regardless of your religion, your age, your race, no matter your size and or whether or not you have insurance I am their to help you.

It is a thankless job at times, and it's understood though. Sometimes your greeted with open arms, other times anger, and confusion. Humans are unique creatures when it comes to times of high stress and most act differently. When I see people I usually see them at their worst, sick, hurt, dying, or just sad and lonely. No matter what, I go in with my heart and each person I will treat to the best of my abilities. I'm here to save you, to help you, no matter what. I don't do this because I get paid. Salary is just an added bonus, I did this as a volunteer and I now get paid for it. So no matter what the time, and even if you think it may be silly to call 9-1-1, if your ever in doubt and don't think you can safely get yourself to the hospital then call...and I will be there, whether it be at 3 in the morning or 3 in the afternoon, I will do my job just the same. I am here for you. I will do this job until I am no longer able.
