Although Zune offers a good variety of quality podcasts for any user, in using DSL internet speeds for downloading, some podcasts will work more effectively than others.
Audio podcasts are rarely ever a problem to download, so these are nearly always good for someone who enjoys these. However, when downloading video podcasts, a DSL user may wish to stay within certain parameters to avoid the frustrations that can come with downloading long videos.
For a DSL user, short video podcasts with a length of fifteen minutes or less will work out the best. This avoids long overnight downloads for the updating of just one or two videos, with the ineviteable dissapointment of the download somehow not working out in the end. With the shorter podcasts, daily updates do work out well, with download times being far more reasonable.
The best podcasts will also be well put together (which most of Zune's podcasts truly are), and either entertaining or informative. These things in mind, the following list (in no particular order) is a good place to start for some of the best Zune podcasts for most DSL users.
Discovery News
These run about two to four minutes, and are filled with an abundance of interesting news and information an nearly anything you could wonder about... from shipwrecks, to meteorites, to turkey eggs, and then some.
Comedy Central Stand-Up

The old Daffy Duck, Mighty Mouse, Ali Baba, Betty Boop, Felix the Cat, Woody Woodpecker, and more will thrill you and entertain you in these two to fifteen minute clips. (Viewer discretion is advised... As you may remember, some of these do contain some form of graphic violence, so may no longer be suitable for viewing by young children, though many, if not most, would be.)
Best of YouTube
Running from two to six minutes, these entertaining videos offer just what it says, the best of what YouTube has to offer. Sometimes funny, sometimes interesting, sometimes downright amazing, there is always a good variety.
Bob Thurman Video Podcast
For another form of spiritual lift, Bob Thurman presents his expertise in talks on Buddhism and its related spiritual aspects with these eight to fifteen minute videos. These tend to come out quite regularly, so one can anticipate an abundance of these.
