Reflections: The best prank to play on someone?

by Brooke Huntley

Created on: January 15, 2009

This prank your about to hear about was done by my parents and I to my boyfriend. My prank is only good for those who are pregnant or awaiting to bring home a baby. Just a reminder this prank is plain out rude and sick. The prank did bring some of us a laugh, but not my boyfriend. My parents and I stumbled across an "X-CUSE Box" at the mall. It is a box that has numerous buttons too press when your in need of an excuse to get of the phone. This machine has a button with a baby on it, this imitates a crying baby. My son who was born ten weeks early was in NICU and he was going to be coming home sometime the week we did the prank. My boyfriend was not able to make it to see our son for his CPR class so my parents came with me. We were there all day and I had not spoken to my boyfriend, so he didn't know what was going on. We were on the way home from the hospital and I called him to let him know the update, and while I was explaining everything to him, my mother grabbed the "X-CUSE Box" and hit the baby button. On the other end he heard the real sounding baby and asked why he was crying. I told him I need to let him go I had to feed him, and that we'll be home real soon. Now we live an hour away from the hospital and he knew we were not in the NICU. He finally jolted back to life and said "I thought you already left the NICU". I told him yeah were in the car. Then he started to freak out because he really thought the baby was in the car coming home. I had to tell him we were kidding, he was a little bad at us, but I told him it wasn't my idea. Then when we returned home, I wrapped a teddy bear up, which was just about the size of my son and I took the "X-CUSE box" next door to my cousins. She was waiting patiently for us to get home with the update, so we decided to trick them all too. I walked into their house with the bear wrapped in the blanket, while the baby crying sound was on. I approached them trying to quite the teddy bear, butI had to stop before I reached them because there eyes started to tear up. It was hilarious and everyone soon laughed it off, but it was cruel, and I felt bad because it was my child we were talking about, it worked out well because he was supposed to me discharged Christmas week, so everyone expected him home. My son had been in the hospital for a month, so we all wanted him home. I do recommend only doing this if you know the people your doing it to has enthusiasm, and can laugh it off.
