Before You Go

After the last war has done its damage

After my child becomes a sage

After we set aside our differences

In my world, I whisper your name

Gentle breezes wipe clean fighters' feelings

So intensely focused in wars gone by

Stirring pictures of discarded memories

Snapshots only the wind can find

Before you go, I want to know you

Before you leave, please take my hand

Before it's over, I want to love you

Play with me in the sands of time

As I turn the pages to the future

As I read each word in time

As I understand your true feelings

In my heart, spirits dance with rhyme

Your face pressed softly on my shoulder

Our escape from the daily strife

Beautiful words we share together

I regret you weren't in my life

Before you go, I want to know you

Before it's over, I want to love you

Play with me in the sands of time

Once daylight gives away its shadows

Once the moon casts the only glow

Once our words reforest the meadows
