Bible study: The second coming of Christ and the rapture

Because of the many faiths and beliefs today, society is much confused about the issues of the Bible and it's truth. Having little understanding of what the truth really is, many simply choose to believe the thing that sounds the best to them. One of the issues of controversy is the Rapture of the Church and when it is to take place.

The Bible states in Hosea 4:6 (KJV) that "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge,...

At the time that God made this statement He was having issues with the children of Israel because they were running around pretty much in the same way that people do today. They had the information then just like we have the Bible today, but they would not gain understanding and apply it to their lives either. They were rejecting God and coming to their own conclusions pretty much the same way as today. They were putting their faith in lies because they did not understand the truth.

Our society is going through the same thing now. People are placing their hope in things that are simply not true. With our world facing such days as we are in, one of the most important things about the Bible that people should have the right understanding about is the Rapture of the Church. Humanity, whether saved or lost, senses an end time coming. Most are simply unsure of what is real.

True born again Christians will be taken out of this world before the end comes. In 2 Thessalonians 2:1 Paul calls this event "our gathering together unto him." This is what we know as the Rapture of the Church. Pentecostals refer to this happening as "The Blessed Hope". Christians will not have to face such issues as the Antichrist and Tribulation.

Jesus taught of His returning to earth in scriptures such as Matthew 24 and 25; Mark 13; and Luke 12. He was continually warning the disciples to be constantly prepared for this return. Christians have been told this repeatedly throughout the New Testament. And all of the scriptures that give such warnings are focused on Jesus' return. The church is not warned to watch for the Great Tribulation. Scripture doesn't warn us to watch and be ready for the Antichrist According to Luke 21:28(NIV), Jesus told believers what to do when they began to witness signs of the end times when He said this, "And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh." He doesn't tell us here to watch for the Great Tribulation, He says to look up for the church
