Do you believe in love at first sight? I must confess years ago I would have said, "No, you must get to know someone before you know you are in love with them," but today, I'm a living example of someone falling in love with me at first sight and I ended up marrying them and we will have been married forty-seven years in April 2009. My husband says, "I can tell you, it was love at first sight with I saw my wife. I can still see her as plain as if it is today when she stepped out of her car and approached the apartment building where I was visiting a friend. I immediately knew I had something special in my heart for her looks and the way she carried herself and I knew I wanted to get to know her. I turned and asked my friend, "Who in the world is this knock out woman? Please introduce me to her when she comes in...will you?"

When I entered the apartment door, my neighbor, asked me to come into her apartment for a minute, and when I did she said, "There's someone I know who would like to meet you." She introduced me to my husband and later knocked on my door and asked me if I would like to go for a ride with them to get a soda. I took them up on the ride, and I must say, "We had eyes for each other almost immediately."

We had a great night and he made a date with me for Saturday night and I must say, "I was about as took back with him as he was with me, but I wouldn't say for me it was love at first sight."

I thought he was a good looking nice mannered man but love wasn't in the picture for me. Yes, I would love to date him but I had to get to know him first, I was not a person who would fall in love at a first glance. I had to get to know a person's mood, personality, likes and dislikes, before I could get to like someone much less fall in love. Guess what? After dating him for more than a year, I feel in love with him and we got married. It has been a love that has lasted for almost fifty years and we are both as much in love today as we were the first day we got married.

I can say, yes, people do fall in love at first sight and it can be a lasting love. I never did think a person could fall in love at first sight but I married the man that fell in love with me at first sight and I feel I was blessed to have married such a wonderful, caring man. I would do it all over again and never have second thoughts...someone greater was watching over me to see that I married the right man and one who cared for me from the first sight.
