Dangers of business ads for at-home work

There are some inherent dangers of business ads for at-home work - the fact of the matter is that more and more of them are cropping up online, in your email, they're on websites you visit, I could go on and on about some of the places I've seen business ads for at-home work.

First things first

The first thing to do when you see these business ads for at-home work is look for a telephone number. There are so many handy tools on the Internet these days that it's possible to do a 'reverse' look-up on telephone numbers and see if the number is listed to a legitimate business. If this step passes go to the next step:

Verify that the business has a Better Business Bureau file - even the smallest company will have basic information onfile with the Better Business Bureau. By the way one of the nicest features of the Better Business Bureau is that you can also look up a company by telephone number! If this step passes then it's time to go onto the next step:

Read all the fine print - it's inevitable that there is something sandwiched into the fine print. I know hundreds of people who have been taken in by business ads for at-home work to find out that there is a monthly fee for the service they're signing up for. What looks to be a relatively small investment up front winds up costing thousands of dollars if you cancel (or even if you continue). Verify that the 'fine print' doesn't have some hidden clause in it. Final Step

One final way to avoid the dangers of business ads for at-home work is to search your favorite search engine with the name of the company! Fortunately with the advent of the Internet it's becoming harder and harder to rip people off with professional ads that are little more than scams! Chances are if someone's been taken in then you'll find a notification of it in some way shape or form on the internet! Don't let one bad (or negative) review scare you off however, make sure you follow up on all of the information and you then make an informed decision.

I have some very basic rules of thumb when reviewing business ads for at-home work:

1. I will NEVER pay a fee to look for a job (I wouldn't be looking for a job if I had money to throw away)

2. If I need a 'starter' kit it's probably not a job I want (that means it involves sales of some sort)

3. I pay NO upfront fees period - no questions ever.

Summary:

There are many legitimate work at home opportunities in todays market. Even with high unemployment rate, you have sufficient opportunity to make money online through legitimate sources with proven track records and even some that guarantee payment. Don't fall for the dangers of business ads for at-home work - make sure you check everything out thoroughly.
