Driver safety: Use the turn signals

I am amazed how many people don't use their turn signals. The feeling of frustration I have when I see these morons on the road not giving any advance warning which way they are heading makes me want to join the police force so I can start ticketing these idiots. Is it laziness? Is it because they are talking on their cell phones? Just what the hell is going on with these rude drivers not wanting to signal? I have found out it is all of the above.

There are a tremendous amount of accidents caused by not using turn signals. Here is an example: You are in your car and are waiting to turn into traffic. Another car is heading down the road, but the car is slowing down. Now you don't know whether that car is going to turn into the street you are pulling out of, or if the car is having engine trouble or any other myriad reasons as to why the car is slowing down. You think it may want to pull into the street you are exiting, but you are not sure. So you wait. Sure enough, the car pulls into the street you are exiting, and the moron is on the phone completely oblivious as to the lack of courtesy without using the turn signal. Doesn't that just piss you off? It does for me. All I can do is shake my head. Even giving the international hand signal (the middle finger) isn't going to work because the driver is oblivious in their own world. Ah, the joys of driving.

Auto manufacturers install turn signals in cars for a reason. It is a very important device to use for safety. Communicating via a turn signal is just as important as stop lights. To let other drivers know your intentions as to which way you are going is quite important to know. More efficient traffic results when drivers operate with the most amount of information they can get. And turn signals provide that information to your fellow drivers.

Another example of dangerous stupidity is when you are behind another vehicle. All of a sudden the vehicle slows down in front of you. So you have to slow down. There is no warning except their brake lights, and no warning whatsoever if the car in front of you is a standard shift. The car then pulls into the street on the right - hand side of the road and goes on it's merry way. Meanwhile you have slowed down, cars in back of you have slowed down, and you never had a chance to slightly veer to the left to pass the moron car in front of you to keep traffic moving. All because some pinhead decides not to use the turn signal, for whatever reason.

So what's the solution. I say fine them up the yingyang. Make the fines so steep that they are forced once and for all to make sure they use their directionals, before more people end up dead on the nation's roads.
