There are so many inspirational people in the bible. It was really hard to choose which one was my favorite. But if I had to choose one I think it would have to be Joseph the son of Jacob. He went through so much in life and still kept his faith in God. His life was so much harder then most people on this earth today. And now when I am going through something in life I just think about what he went through.
For those that have never heard about Joseph and I know there are some who haven't, he was the son of Jacob. He had 10 older brothers who were very jealous of him because they thought that he was their father's favorite. So they sold him to slaver traders and told Jacob that he had been mauled by an animal of some sort. The traders then sold him to Potiphar who was on of the Pharaoh's officers. Joseph did such a good job that he became his masters favorite until his wife tried to seduce him. But Joseph rejected her so she went and told her husband that he had made a pass at her. So Joseph was put into prison.
In prison he became friends with the prison keeper and the keeper found out that he could interpret dreams. When the Pharaoh heard of this he asked Joseph to interpret his dream. Joseph did and it all came true. No one else had been able to guess what the Pharaoh's dream was. The dream was that the land was going to be in extreme Hunger after they had an abundance of food. So the Pharaoh rewarded Joseph with overseeing the land of Egypt.
When the land was in abundance Joseph stored up on food and everything for the famine that was to come. During the time of the famine Joseph's brother's came looking for food. They did not recognize their youngest brother. He made his brother's go get their younger brother. When they came back with Benjamin the youngest before him he told his brothers who he really was. The brother's asked Joseph for forgiveness and he did. It was a joyous reunion for the brothers and their father. Through all his trials and tribulations Joseph never lost sight of his Lord. He kept faith that God was there and would always be there for him. It is so hard to remember this when you are in the worst times of your life. Sometimes it is hard to realize this through the good times. For me though it is the hard times. I used to wonder if my God loved me so much how could he let me be abused in such horrific ways as I was as a child. Then I realize God had and has a purpose for me and I am a stronger person because of what I have been through. And each part of my life happens so the next part can happen. Its like a puzzle. So I think of Joseph and his trials and I always thank my God.
