The Supernatural Valentine:

Linda had long been a girl with her foot well in the doorway of the sixth sense. Having seen spirits and ghosts since a little girl she had a hard time distinguishing one soul from the next, often confusing alive and dead interchangeably. Due to this overwhelming dilemma it was obvious that her social life suffered greatly, and as such, even after 16 long years she was without a friend, let alone a boyfriend.

Life as usual consisted of the same thing over and over regardless of how the years went by. Get up in the morning with the same routine, go to school for the day, then come home and do what she needed to for class and her parents. Often she found company in the souls of the recently deceased and they served as her friends until their regrets had dissipated enough for them to move on. As such, she was never truly alone, but being knowledgeable of her classmates or living peers wasn't her forte. However, with the coming of Valentines Day just a few days away she had the strongest desire ever just to celebrate the holiday with a living soul. Flowers and chocolates aside, she thought she would be content with just a dance at their Valentines Day Dance hosted by her school.

In preparation for the dance she thought it may be best to approach someone before hand to test the waters or even set up a date. However, since holidays were natural magnets to all souls it became more of a chore to sift through the candidates of living first, let alone asking anyone. Apparently the spacey look served to only creep guys out despite her moderate attractiveness and she was avoided even further. With no other choice, she decided that her best attempt would have to wait until the moment itself.

Finally the big night had arrived! Sparing no expense she got into her best battle form she could, dolled up with makeup, hair treatments, her dress, and the works, she was set. All that was needed was to get there and win one over! Equally excited were her parents, both of whom chose to escort her to the school on that cold but happy night. Linda just hoped it would say happy, breathing one last nervous sigh into the cloudless starry sky before the cold creeping through her coat forced her into the car. At last calmed down, she lazily watched the darkened trees through the car window as they quickly passed by. The snow and ice on their still forms very cold, but somewhat enticing all the same. Giving the air a prepared sigh, she closed her eyes...
