With the invention of the George Foreman Grill came an easy, fast way to prepare meals for yourself, you spouse, your entire family!
I've had my George Foreman Grill for roughly seven years now. We've done everything from burgers and hot dogs to pork, chicken and steaks. We've even used it for grilled cheese for something a little out of the ordinary!
The decision to purchase our George Foreman Grill was made for two reasons. The first was because my husband and I were looking for ways to eat healthier. I was drawn to the George Foreman Grill and was very impressed with the way fats and juices drained away from the meat, rather than letting our meat cook in the grease. Instead of keeping all the unwanted fat and calories in the meat, it was draining away. Chicken was an easy meat to cook, but for the most part, it's healthy and the need to drain juices is not a necessity. Burgers and steaks were great! No more grease soaked buns for us! Steaks were much better tasting when prepared on the George Foreman Grill rather than being pan-seared. And in my opinion, one of the best uses of all is for bacon! Most healthy eaters run from bacon and for the most part, we do as well. But, there are times when you just need it- it's fantastic when I crumble it and add it to my homemade potato salad! Cooking bacon on the George Forman Grill not only cooks non-greasy, crispy bacon, but the hinged lid prevents the grease from splattering all over my counter and stove top.
Another draw was the ease of grilling meats indoors. In a climate like ours, the great state of New York, flame grilling our meats in the winter is not an option! I wondered if an electric appliance really could give us the same taste as the real live flame of the outdoor barbecue. On most things, it does come in at a close second! Chicken is the exception. With the George Foreman Grill, you never really get blackened grill marks, just crispy brown lines. But regardless, the ease of grilling indoors has helped make our winter-time meals a bit more exciting!
The George Foreman Grill is quite easy to clean. Mostly you can wipe it with a damp cloth and it's perfect. There have been numerous times where it has been left and juices harden on the appliance. In those times, I have simple plugged it in and let the heat aid in my cleaning process.
Overall, I would definitely reccomend the George Foreman Grill to anyone. It is perfect for apartmnet living and for those who want to enjoy griled meats in the winter when snow prevents outdoor grilling.
