Momo's Quest - Rating 3/5
Momo's Quest is a fun little side scroller platform game in which you are a chipmunk, or squirrel, not really sure which, but that is not important. Throughout the game Momo's friends help him with tips on how to complete each level. The premise behind the game is that you must graffiti on buildings without the citizens calling the police on you all the while avoiding dangerous jumps and pitfalls.
Game play is a little touchy because you are using the mouse to control your movements. Simply placing the cursor to the front or rear of Momo will cause him to move in that direction, while the left mouse button operates the jumps and spray painting. All in all, it is a very simple game to play and I soon found myself caught up in the action. Although, the game did lock up on a pretty regular basis and caused me to have to hard reboot my computer several times.
The graphics are very good and the game appears to be in 3d although it is not. The one thing that I found a little offensive is that the police officers were represented by pigs. However, the graphics themselves are very good and professional looking. My favorite level regarding graphics would have to be the forest. The graphics for this game are really cutesy.
The sound effects worked seamlessly with the game. Nevertheless, when the police are called on Momo the sirens come on but they did not turn off when he was clear of the police and the rest of the game was spent with the sirens blaring until I finally turned down my speakers. Other than that the sounds and music went off without a hitch and blended perfectly for this type of game.
The game itself is another in a long list of animal character side scroller gracing the Internet. Creatively speaking, Momo's Quest is lacking and there really is not a lot to do in the game. Jumping, flying, and spray painting are about all of the action you can expect from this game. After a short time I found myself becoming bored with this game and finally quit. Probably the most imaginative thing about the game was the opening scenes although they did not make sense to me and seemed to be just random cut scenes spliced together.
When all is said and done Momo's Quest is fun for about half an hour and then it becomes tedious. I cannot recommend purchasing the game but the trial is worth the download, especially for the kids.
