There are countless companies that sell different types of seeds. Many of these companies have websites and also showcase their catalogs or parts of their catalogs online. Being able to see what a company has to offer can be incredibly helpful to a gardener. It also means that any gardener can purchase seeds from several companies, depending on what each company has to offer, without having to leave their home.
Sometimes determining how reputable a company is can be difficult. That is when joining any of a number of gardening forums can prove to be extraordinarily helpful. Often members of these forums will recommend or warn people about companies with whom they've had dealings.
One of the most useful and reliable resources for anyone who is not familiar with companies is Garden Watch Dog, a resource that will tell you how many positive, neutral and negative reviews a company has - and it breaks the ratings down into six and twelve month ratings. Although they don't usually have specials or sales, the quality is outstanding, and it's a great source for old fashioned favorites.
Although it's not a commercial resource in the traditional sense, and the selection is very limited Seed Saver's Exchange is an outstanding site with a wealth of information. For an amazing selection of prairie plants, some of which are not terribly well known, a great resource is Seed Saver's Exchange.
One of the most highly regarded seed companies that has unusual and hard to find seeds and seed starting supplies as well as useful information about starting the seeds and growing the plants is Park Seed and they also have a selection of Park Dollar Seeds. They also sometimes offer e-mail or coupon discounts.
Another reputable place to buy seeds is Garden Store N More. They offer free shipping on orders of $10 or more, or $1.95 on your entire
