What a heartbreaker for an animal lover! TheTruthAboutPitbulls .com is a website that shows you what pitbulls are really like. I have always been a pitbull lover and we will get to that because of course that is one of the reasons I wanted to write this article. I found this website probably a little over a year ago and I had one of their videos on my myspace page for a long time. I am an extreme animal lover having six pets in our family, but how people perceive pitbulls kills me.

On the website home page it tells you why pitbulls were chosen to be raised and bred in certain ways. By using pitbulls in the wars and for fighting because they are loyal, with little fear, great intelligence and companionship and their easy trainability. They are the ideal dogs. So people started to see what else could become of these dogs and that's when pitbulls became hated by some. They are & were used to fight, kill and do whatever it takes to defend their companion/owner. Once people realized the breeds fighting skills, illegal fights started up all over and continue to this day.

I got so much out of this website other than what I already knew and felt, my love of the breed. My brother has had several pitbulls and not one of them were even close to having aggressive tendencies. Our child who is now almost ten would cuddle with him when she was a year old and he weighed over a hundred pounds. He never ate her toys, but what gently pick them up to take them to her. To her he was gigantic but she loved him so very much and he treated her like a little princess and loved being with her. His death was hard on her even to this day she talks about him. His death was due to ignorance, which in my opinion made it even more sad.

After the death of my brothers favorite dog and a dog my daughter had grown up with I started to read more. I could not believe I was so hurt and sad over a dogs death. www.thetruthaboutpitbulls.com was one of the first websites I ran across that actually helped me grieve and understand. It is a typical nurture situation and that is what the website it trying to explain. If you raise a pitbull from a puppy and do it right you will have the most loyal companion and fun dog you can imagine. But if you choose to raise pitbulls to fight or attack it is wrong and that is not why they are on this earth. They are pets, not wild animals and should be treated as such.

The website helps you understand that this breed of dogs has gone through horrible hardships along with the humans. As they stuck by our side for years we turned them into dangerous killing machines that need to be put down. That is not the purpose of a pitbull. A pitbull is a loving pet who wants to play and have fun while protecting you at the same time. A dog will only be mean if you train it to be or mistreat it. It is not the breed; it is the breeders and the owners.
