Man has God's attention and His love from before he was formed in his mother's womb. God has proven Himself to be in love with mankind from the beginning. However,  the question of "how does man get God's attention" is more of how does a person feel God is listening. Do we offer up faithful prayers to be silently received in hope that He hears? Do we trust that He is indeed listening? Is it acceptable to want to experience the reality of truth?

David wrote in the Psalms that there is no where we can go where His presence is not. In Romans, Paul writes that nothing can separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus. If we know Christ we are not separated from God. Still we all have that feeling of separation. How can it be His presence is always right here with us and yet we feel the gulf of space between us? Some of us feel that separation because we do not yet know Christ. However, there are many of us who do know Christ and still wonder at the expanse between our hearts and His. We know doctrinally that He is there, and yet our heart yearns for His presence.

A.W. Tozer illustrated that we know the sun exists even on a cloudy day when we cannot see it, but when it comes from behind the clouds and shines its warmth upon us we feel and see the reality of its existence. Thus, while we can know that we already have the Lord's attention there is something greater when we experience that reality. The good news is that it is experiential. We can learn to hear His voice. We can experience His tangible manifest presence. We can see and have the authority to release the power of God to affect miracles.

The prophetic is a wonderful way to experience what God wants to tell us. When we have learned to hear God for ourselves, we can hear God to give His encouragement to another. We can speak into their lives the things God is saying and show them His love by communicating His heart to them. I have received such encouragements and it is like receiving a smile or a hug from God. Prophesy is one of the gifts of the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. If you have not yet received this baptism ask someone who has to pray for you to receive it as well. We need a continual infilling of His Presence to the live the Christian life.

It is also possible to sit quietly before Him, maybe with some soft worship music playing and just turn your heart toward His. Wait on Him, reflecting on His goodness, love, and mercy. Some people call this "soaking" in His presence. Ask the Holy Spirit to come and fill the room with His presence. It is very likely you will feel a tangible weight of His presence upon you. I have experienced this on numerous occasions in the last few years. And I have released it to others to experience as well for it is transferable. Do not be discouraged if it doesn't happen right away. Continue to spend those quiet moments with the Lord seeking Him. He promises that if you seek Him you will find Him.

There is so much available in the Kingdom of God. We need to be hungry for Him and His Kingdom. He will not disappoint. He pursues us with His love all the time; we just need to learn to recognize it. The more time you spend with Him the more you will recognize His presence and His love being lavished upon you as His dear beloved.
