With October Comes...
Someone sang about October going
And I used to love that song.
October going meant Grandma's
Stuffing, Mom's green bean casserole,
And you coming off the train
On Wednesday night.
I'd save a year's worth of conversation
That I couldn't put in a letter
For that one day we had time to talk.
You'd humor the young me
With over-worked and tired eyes
By pouring me another Coke
For the next hour of conversation.
But now, "When October Goes",
There's a hole, a blankness, a missing
Piece in my life that will only be
Recharged when we meet again
"Somewhere Down the Road"
On The Other Side of life, my dear Uncle.
I miss you.
