With October Comes...
Someone sang about October going
And I used to love that song.
October going meant Grandma's
Stuffing, Mom's green bean casserole,
And you coming off the train
On Wednesday night.
I'd save a year's worth of conversation
That I couldn't put in a letter
For that one day we had time to talk.
You'd humor the young me
With over-worked and tired eyes
By pouring me another Coke
For the next hour of conversation.
But now, "When October Goes",
There's a hole, a blankness, a missing
Piece in my life that will only be
Recharged when we meet again
"Somewhere Down the Road"
On The Other Side of life, my dear Uncle.
I miss you.

Poetry: As October begins
AUTUMN WALK
I walk in a hardwood forest;
Frozen blue sky. Golden red leaves.
A brisk wind
THIS OCTOBER DAWNING
The hills glisten and glitter in ruby and gold
as the first of October this morning unfolds.
September
...cool slate grey October
when she said that her love
for me had wilted, had died.
She rose from our lover's bed,
and
There is a season when time is made visible in the dying earth.
In a final breath the earth reveals her best. A bright canopy
A Burst Of Autumn
The smell of autumn drifts through the air,
colorful leaves fly and float here and there.
Leaves ride
