2006: Political correctness gone amok

Does no one else find it ironic that by far the most PC people are upper-middle class whites from New England? The no-spin truth is that political correctness is propagated not by people who actually care about the folks they are trying to protect but their own egos and feelings of self-righteousness.

One of their biggest concerns right now is making sure black people are refereed to as 'African Americans' supposedly because black is offensive. This is utterly moronic, for several reasons.

First of all, if this is offensive, then then calling people white should be offensive. Does any white person reading this find this offensive? I highly doubt it. Besides that, African American doesn't always work.

For example, I have a friend who is black, but he has Jamaican ancestors. At this point, someone who disagreed with me would say something like, 'but the Jamaicans came from Africa.' And they, for once in their lives, would be right.

However, if you want to start going back in time, then we all originally come from Africa, either because all the monkeys from which we are descended came from Africa, or if you believe in ID, then because the Garden of Eden was located in Africa and we all are the descendants of Adam and Eve.

So the logical thing would be to call everyone African, or refer to them by the country that they are now a member of. Neither makes sense, because imagine this.

You've just witnessed a car jacking by a black guy. Are you going to say to the police officer, 'he was an American, about 6'4"...etc?' no. It is okay to identify people by their skin colour, as long as we don't judge them by it.

We need to be more relaxed about race, which is a message that Chapel's Show did a good job of preaching. Besides, when we start getting concerned over things like the term black, we are forgetting about truly offensive terms like the N-word, which actually are bad.

On to the word retarded. People always get upset about his word in my school when it thrown about casually. They don't have this right. Retarded means under developed mentally.

It is perfectly alright to say this to a friend if he does something dumb, or it should. Think about it this way, if your friend proposed a bad idea, and you said 'that's retarded,' someone would most likely get mad at you.

However, if you were to say, 'that idea has clearly been formed by someone whose mental faculties are not up to speed,' no one would care. But they mean the same thing. Think about it.

On to homosexuals.
