When it comes to saving money around the house I find it easiest to break it down by rooms. For this case let's talk about the bathroom. Although most of us aren't buying bathroom items weekly, we do spend a descent amount of money on bathroom products. These simple tips will help you save money around the bathroom by becoming more efficient in your everyday use of bathroom products.

Everyone uses shampoo and conditioner in the shower. Most of the time we use too much of these products than we need to. Also it seems some of the containers these products come in are designed to give you too much every time you try to use them. My solution to this is a soap pump dispenser with a bottle. These are the small bottles you often see liquid hand soaps in. Normally you can find a bottle with a pump dispenser on it for around a dollar or two. Since we switched to this method of dispensing our shampoo and conditioner with a pump bottle we have noticed these products last us twice as long. The savings are simple to see here; with the purchase of a dollar bottle you will get twice the value out of your shampoo and conditioner.

The next quick savings tip is no secret. Many people now understand when their bar of soap gets small they can save it to combine with other small pieces to create a larger bar of soap. They make little presses to combine these small pieces of soap and they are worth the buy. My other suggestion is to make hand soap from these small pieces. Simply break up the small piece of soap and place it in a bottle with a dispenser. Add some hot water to dissolve the soap into the water and you now have hand soap.

Finally lets talk about bathroom products in general. Do yourself a favor and buy them at a supermarket like Walmart. These products are always cheaper there and they normally carry generic brands, which are even cheaper. Simply compare the ingredients on the generic brand to the name brand and you will see they are normally the same. Believe me I don't buy everything from a supermarket because some of their items are lower in quality, but when it comes to simple bathroom products there prices can't be beat.

Try and breakdown how much you spend on bathroom items and you may be surprised. Take these simple but effective ways to minimize your waste of bathroom products and put them to use. You will start using less of everyday items, which in the long run means you will be saving money.
