The truth about love is that it has a mind of its own
hiding round corners, pretending not to be home
then just when you thought it would not knock on your door
it reminds you what your doorbell is for.
The truth about love is that it has no edges
no fences restrain it, or walls or hedges
it can begin without warning and forever stay
as it doesn't leave or arrive in a conventional way.
The truth about love is that it cant be bought or sold
it may happen between friends and take years to unfold
it may enter strangers hearts at whim
leaving quickly, with only a trace that its been.
The truth about love is that it never hurts, despite rumor
it does though, often have, an incredible humour
it can feed a tired soul and watch it grow
and forever stay in the afterglow.
