Understanding the aversion of some to haircuts

This is a very interesting subject for me,because I have course hair that will never behave the way a stylist thinks that it should. I have resorted to cutting my own hair due to this fact! I also have a little natural curl that likes to take ove whenever my hair dries, which can take almost 2 hours sometimes depending on the weather.
Each stylist thinks they know your hair better than you do. This is not the case I have had this hair since I was a little girl and my mother always tried to hide it by spraying me down with Aqua Net and brushing it out as straight as she could get it before putting my hair into two pigtails.

This process must have worked because people that I see on a daily basis that have known me since those days say," I never knew you had curly hair." It's probably why I hate hairspray so much even to this day.
The last time someonelse styled my hair I asked them to only use a very small amount of mousse and let it dry naturally. She actually wrinkled her nose up at me like I had no idea what I was talking about.
Onc I reached an age where my mother was no longer allowed to do anything with my hair,I realized that when I let my hair dry naturally I no longer had stick straight hair or frizz head as my sister called it,but I had long flowing curls that reached past my shoulders! To this day I let my hair do it's thing because fighting it always turns into a disaster and I resort back to a single ponytail!
