Memoirs: What's the best cloud shape you ever saw?

Clouds, soft, puffy seemingly far away. I have always found interesting shapes in clouds. When I was a child I would grab a blanket and lie underneath the heavens and stare for hours at the sky. I am most certain that there have been quite a number of posts stating animal shapes, odd shapes or what have you, but, the latter of this article will tell you of something that my son and I experienced on a summers day as we arrived home from the bookstore. First of all, let me state that I have seen quite a few odd clouds recently. The one that really stands out is the one I encountered one morning as I was heading to school. I looked up to my left and there it was as plain as day, an X in the midst of a dark cloud. I wish that I had a camera, for I knew that no one would believe me. But, there it was, a perfectly shaped cloud. All I could do was stare and smile for the beauty of it.

Now, as I stated earlier, my son and I had just arrived home on a hot summer day from the book store. Before I reached the front door, I looked to my left and there it was a small cloud, slowly forming itself larger and larger, I stood frozen in my steps and called for my son to take notice of it as well. We were both frozen in time as the cloud for the next 5-10 minutes continued to grow and grow. You can't imagine, or can you, what was going through my mind? We stood there and I looked around at my neighbor houses to see if anyone would come outside to see this spectacular sight. It was past 5 minutes now, and still growing slowly in size and I was breathless, then all of a sudden it turned a soft hazy purple and simply vanished. I tell you it is true

I even took pictures of it and sent them to a friend of mine who was a meteorologist, he never responded. So, I decided to take my experience one step farther and I contacted the weathermen at 2 local news stations. Much to my dismay, they also never responded, so either they think that I was imagining this beautiful sight,as they did not know the answer either, I do not know, at least they could have taken the time to email me back with a reason, of what I had seen and what they thought it may have been. I shall never forget the day that this cloud that showed up in the neighborhood and made me realize that there are things that none of us can ever explain. So I keep it to myself, my son and I share the story and will never forget that day the day stood still for us as a cloud gave us a magnificent show!
