A Day in my Life
I opened my sleepy, crusted, lazy eyes
To find that the sun had decided "early ill rise"
I looked at my clock, it can be right
For I was sure I set the alarm that night.
I jumped up and panicked "Ill be late this time for sure"
I had been late for work that month a time times four.
I ran, and jumped in the shower without a moment to spare
Quickly hopped out and dried off my hair,
I grabbed my coat and ran out the door
Jumped in my car and the pedal hit the floor.
I sped through highways and bi-ways alike,
Just to get pulled over by cop on a bike.
He gave me a ticket and I continued along
Little did i know that something was wrong
My car slowed and sputtered to a stop
I looked at the gas gauge and I lost my top
This would not have happened if the alarm worked before
Then I looked up, just in time to see rain start to pour.
I tried to think of how the day could get more horrible
I tried to think of one thing to make it more deplorable
I gave up and I started to walk and saw a man selling todays paper, his last name was Hoff.
I bought one and could not help but smile as I looked at the date, it was Saturday, my day off

Take a walk in my shoes.
Experience one day in my life.
See the anguish, the exhaustion,
The terror, the strife.

The Duty of a Soldier's Wife
I salute our flag
With my oven Mit
Changing diapers to the sound
Of freedom's wit
Serving my country

Here inside this body
Lives a ME that no one knows
A ME that's hard to understand
A ME I haven't chose
To be bitter and misgiving
Is
The world on my shoulders, a smile on my face
The girl in the mirror is hard to embrace
I'm a mother of three, yet I tend

A day in my life
A sky of often-grey
A never-lifting cloud
An endless fall of rain
A bout of shining sun
Playing peek-a-boo
Between
