The effect of the Internet on reading habits

The Internet has completely changed our reading habits. People want to read things faster, easier and many times people don't want to take the time to read at all. Many millions of people want to skim articles, as fast as possible so that they can get to the next website. Millions of people want the information given to them in video form. Suddenly it seems the entire world has changed their reading habits. Book sales are down, and Internet viewing is up.

Hopping onto the Internet to access your information is a lot easierthen reading the newspaper, or reading a book. All you have to do is find several websites, read the information as quickly as possible and you can find out the information you so desire. Many times you haveto read an entire book to discover what kinds of foods to eat to become healthy for example.

Reading habits have been changed by the Internet. People aren't buying as many newspapers or magazines anymore, Why shouldwe buy a book, newspaper or magazine when we can get it for free on the Internet? And we can get the info we want fasteron the Internet then scouring through a magazine for several hours. Newspaper readership is way down. Magazines and newspapers are going out of business. All because people have turned to one source to get their thirst quenched for knowledge, the Internet.

People aren't buying as many newspapers anymore because, why should we? Who wants to buy a newspaper when we can sit in a comfortable chair at home and find the infowe want and then make a comment on it under the story. The Internet supplies the information we want, when we want it, and it is up to date. Newspapers stories are old by the time they hit the newsstands. Who wants to read yesterdays news, when we can read the news we desire when we want it. We can read the news, get entertainment news, and orderour dinner all right from the Internet. We can make copies of the stories we want to keep and take them with us where ever we go.

Why should we buy books to read when we can access all the information we want right on the Internet. Books are down right expensive these days with new ones costing hefty prices, and used books costing much less. But in this fast paced society why read a book when we can get all we want right at our fingertips?

People are in a hurry. With many couples both working jobs, and taking care of the kids, millions of people don't have time to read a book. We have to clean a house, make dinner every night, and get the kids to their activities.
