The true cost of wireless security sytems: Wireless versus hardwire

systems when initially making your purchase.

Benefits of a wireless system:

Installation is less intrusive in a household. It is not necessary to drill to each sensor. If renting, this is a good choice because removal is easy when vacating the property.

Installation is much quicker than a wired system. Attach a sensor, install the battery and program it to the control panel.

A wired security system is more secure, more reliable, and a better investment for your money in home security. The only time a wireless system should be considered is if you rent and the landlord will not approve a wired system.

The true cost of a wireless system comes in the higher price paid for the equipment, maintenance costs for the life of the system, replacement system costs when failed components cannot be individually replaced, and the loss of a portion of your security system when a battery fails as well as battery replacement costs.

Things to consider include understanding how the system treats a broken sensor or a dead or low battery in a sensor.

Some may treat it as a tamper which means the alarm company may call the police unnecessarily if any of these occur. Too many repeat occurrences could incur monetary expenses from law enforcement responding to false alarms on a frequent basis.

Chose the system that best suits your needs, just understand the downfalls of each system and how to overcome them in order to keep your home as safe as possible.
