Sexual promiscuity: Standards are looser for men than for women: AGREED
I could not agree more with this statement, and in all honesty I feel that it is not a fair reality that we as women face on a daily basis. As a women, and a women that believes in a complete level of equality, I feel that should a woman choose to live a day, a month or her whole life in promiscuity then why should she have to face being called every name under the sun other then the one that she was given at birth.
When I was growing up, and partially into my adult life I was always one of the "boys" and in doing this, while sitting around watching football, and knocking back a few cold ones, I was allowed to hear information that most women don't have the chance of hearing. Listening to men discuss their sexual escapades, while the other men would pat them on their back as if they had just solved the problem of world hunger. I have heard men as the bragged about a women that they were able to have sex with, and then off and running into the next women's bed, and in this particular social circle, it was completely acceptable. Now on the other hand of the discussion, I really couldn't say anything on the matter without having a judgment passed onto me. Now being the woman that I am, it didn't matter then any more then it matters to me now what it is that another person thinks about me, however, not all women are in that position. An average woman is concerned about what it is that people are going to say about them, and then knowing that the man she is willing to be with physically is going to go and tell their friends all about it. Does the action of a woman that is equivalent to the actions of a mans make that women less of a woman? In society's eyes, yes, she is considered to be acting like a prostitute, or a slut. Yet when it is a man having multiple sex partners then; well he is just being a man.
Are these actions that women follow, are they from the way that we are raised, to where it is suppose to be where as a women there is a higher level of standards on a our behavior then there is on a mans? Perhaps this is the case, as a young girl we are taught that we are suppose to be a certain way, and we are suppose to act a certain way as well, and we as women step outside of the realm that we were raised in then we become a lower level of life form. A man traditionally is raised to be the hunter and provider, and to maintain a level of superiority in the eyes of society, realistically,
