I do believe in the paranormal. I've had experiences of my own that would be considered paranormal but that's not why I believe in it. I believe in the paranormal because there are many things in this world that we can't explain. What is normal anyway?
Humans seems to classify everything that doesn't easily fit into a neat little scientific explanation as paranormal. It's part of human nature to fear what we don't understand. The truth is that there is much we don't understand about our world, our universe and our existence. When an event defies the laws of nature it is considered paranormal but those events are gauged by the laws of nature as we know them. We are still learning. Although science has made many advancements there are still many areas in which science has barely begun to scratch the surface. How then can we assume that an event or occurrence is paranormal simply because it appears to defy our limited understanding?
Throughout history there have been many odd happenings. Although those occurrences defied rational explanation science tried to explain them away by attributing them to some natural phenomenon. The interesting point is that there is an explanation for everything that occurs even if we haven't yet found that explanation. For example, I have always been fascinated by reports of strange rains (things falling from the sky) that have occurred throughout the ages. There have been reports of frogs, toads, fish, snakes, candy and even flesh and blood among other items that fell from the sky at one time or another. You can do an internet search to find more information about strange falls from the sky. These occurrences were explained away by attributing them to weather phenomenon such as tornadoes and hurricanes.
The paranormal encompasses a wide range of happenings such as ghostly encounters, strange lights in the sky, florescent mist or fog often seen over the oceans and other bodies of water, UFOs, time disturbances and more. Just because we can't explain every one of these events doesn't mean that there aren't explanations. It seems that ancient knowledge understood paranormal phenomena better than we do with our advanced technology or perhaps it is that we have been conditioned to only accept what is considered socially acceptable. We have been conditioned to focus only on what we can detect with our five senses that anything else is relegated to the far corner of paranormal phenomena. If we were to look beyond the confines of our limited senses we may find that the events we consider paranormal are simply another aspect of our existence and the world we live in.
