Band reviews: Insane Clown Posse

by Keith Williams

Created on: January 10, 2009

A bands first album is usually their greatest. The reason for this is because they had plenty of time to perfect the first before they got signed to a label, but the next ones are usually forced out on a dead line. The Insane Clown posse runs their own dead lines, and this gives them more of a range of oppurtunity. Not to mention that they come up with more unique song topics than any band in history. Go ahead and compare.

Their song topics span from thinking toxic waste barrels are women, to lvoing a specific type of soft drink known as Faygo. I would give them credit for half of Faygo's success since the mid nineties.

Most bands or performers only have one great album. That's fine. But Icp not only has nine seperate albums... i would rank five of them better than most bands best album. Metallica is about the only contest they have... But even Metallica must wait a long while before they bring out a new album. Insane Clown Posse pleases the ears of their fans on average of every two years. And practically everytime they give us Gold.

It's no wonder either. With a great, unique, and creative theme for their albums, they are already ahead of everyone else in the music industry. You see, most musicians only try to entertain the ears, but ICP gives you something to read, laugh at, and relate to. They entertain your eyes with their concerts, and with their comic books.

Let's take a short walk through the history.

Before ICP was Insane Clown Posse, they were Inner City Posse. A few other members were on the bill, but they didn't work out, and soon a name change brought them to the familiar and clever name they currently have.

The first full length album from the duo, (ICP is comprised of a one "Joe Bruce AKA violent J", and a two "Joe Utsler AKA Shaggy 2 Dope") was Carnival of Carnage. With an original concept and a meaning to boot, they were on their way to topping the underground horrorcor charts.

Second came the Ringmaster. Their rap style advanced and the ideas became more clever.

Third album was named the Riddlebox. Now we could see a pattern emerging. The Ringmaster judges you upon death, and the Riddlebox puts you on your path. This album was their first 100% great album, and it brought them more underground fame then the previous two.

The fourth Album was called the Great Melinko. Melinko is a genie who tempts you into sinning in life. This album was even better than the last. Now they were slowly becoming a media icon.

The fifth Album was the ever important Amazing
