Volunteering can be a great way to give back to the community. The end result of volunteering though has more of a greater impact of the volunteer than the organization or the community receiving the help. The rewards of volunteering are endless. It makes a person more compassionate, more understanding to human suffering, and more loving . Volunteers work because they want ot, and not for any moetary or personal gain. This makes the work more enjoyable, and fun as there it is not just merely a personal ambition of one selfish human being.
The problem we have to ask ourselves though with today's hectic lifestyle is, '' How do I find the time to volunteer?''.
This statement is particularly true for busy working mums, who have young kids to bring up as well a demanding career. Older people who have retired, and are on a pension or grant scheme find it easier to volunteer for charity organizations as the kids have grown up and flown from the nest,as well as the fact that there is no real work to do around the house any more. Volunteering gives them the freedom to have something to do, and to keep the mind occupied, thereby reducing thoughts of depression which could lead ot other mental and physical aliments. Volunteering also steers them away from lonliness, and isolation thereby making it easier to meet people, and make friends. People who are not in any relationship and have recently lost a family members find it easier to come to terms with theri loss, and this is so especially after Christmas or Easter Holidays when all family, and friends get together. Who knows, they may even pair up with someone, and find true love and happiness.
This brings us back to the question on finding time to go out and volunteer. it is quite simple. People with hectic schedules need not go out and spend loads of time voluneering. How often is it that we are out with friends and just spend a Sunday in front of the televison? The busy person can take at least four hours off from a Sunday, and go out , at least half an hour (not more) from their home and do some voluntary work. This could not only be helping people, but animals as well. The busy, working mum can aslo find time away from her schedule, adn take her kids out on weekends and volunteer. This kills two birds with one stone and becomes a family activity as well,as oppoesed to going to the movies or eating out.
The aim of volunteering is to give back to the community. Volunteering is an act of kindness and every person should make time to go out and help someone that is in real need of it.
