to the transcript process. Failing to record the proper credit in the right year, could lead to delays in graduation certificates and unnecessary repeats of course material. Contact the school district or State Education office for updates on course material and credit requirements and update your plan as needed until the graduation goal is reached. This keeps your student current and prevents surprises later on.

The course material specific to the credit being recorded should be clearly identified. The course credit material and hours determine the amount of credit that is to be given for that specific course. Core credits should be separately listed by individual year and come before and above elective credits. Elective Credits should also be listed by individual year. They should be listed separately and identified what type of credit they are for example: work credits or other elective credits. The grade and credit given for each course should be listed. Other required courses such as reading hours etc, should be recorded last. The GPA and cumulative GPA as well as the total accumulated credits should have a final total for quick reference. A citizenship grade should be given for each year and should be included on the final line next to the GPA. Many requesting transcripts are interested in the behavior of the student as well.

Additional honors, achievements, experiences, training or specialty education should be listed separately and kept simple and brief unless it is was recognized or achieved on a State or National level. Apply for graduation at the end of the 11th grade year or halfway through it. This leaves a whole year for anything that was missed or needs to be taken care of in order to be on schedule for graduation.

If it is at all possible, once the graduation goals have been met, if you have not already done so, get the school district or state office of education to stamp or certify the transcript, they will often certify and create an educational file of the student that includes the transcript. If the State or local Educational office will certify it, you will generally not have a single question raised when the transcript is presented. Once certified, make a few copies and place the original document in a safety deposit box.
