Downloadable game review: Crayon Physics Deluxe

Move over preschoolers! That's right - Now anybody over the age of four can use a crayon without being sent back to the only place where eating jigsaw puzzle pieces, pooping in the sandbox and napping at 2 in the afternoon is perfectly acceptable! With the downloadable game of "Crayon Physics Deluxe" you can return to your scribbling days while obeying the laws of physics like gravity and motion as you guide your ball to the prize.

"Crayon Physics Deluxe" was the winner of the 2008 Independent Games Festival and it is easy to see why. The outstanding simplicity of the game makes playing it, well, child's-play! But don't get me wrong - "Crayon Physics Deluxe" requires brains! Getting progressively harder, you must become more elaborate with your crayon sketches and more confident with your knowledge of the properties of physics. Draw a ramp and watch your ball roll, scribble a giant foot hinged to a pole and let gravity swing your creation to kick your ball into motion. (See what I mean about elaborate!)

The graphics of "Crayon Physics Deluxe" are exactly what you would expect from a game where crayons are your means of play: sketchy, rough and as if a two year old had designed the game stage. But for a game as deliciously simple at "Crayon Physics Deluxe", it works! Your mom should hang it on the refrigerator door!

As for sound, "Crayon Physics Deluxe" offers calm, soothing music, which is a definite plus for two reasons. One, it restores serenity when you grow frustrated with the fact that the game seems so simple yet can be so challenging; and two, the only other option for a crayon-orientated game would have been a childish, sickeningly happy, repetitive tune, which would make you want to tear your ears off in disgust! And we don't want that now do we?

The brain behind "Crayon Physics Deluxe" has come up with an extremely innovative and creative game that is simple enough for children and challenging enough for even the smartest adults (including master physicians!) I implore you to download the free trail of "Crayon Physics Deluxe" You'll be renewing your childhood fascination for all things waxy and colorful in no time at all!

I give "Crayon Physics Deluxe" a rating of 4.5/5.
