New York City offers a multitude of restaurant choices, but if you're looking for somewhere truly FUN, head to one of these famous themed restaurants on the island of Manhattan. These restaurants are all kid-approved, but they're enjoyable for adults, too.
Alice's Tea Cup
http://alicesteacup.com/
Alice's Tea Cup is an adorable little restaurant, offering Two Scones and a Pot of Tea for just $10. This restaurant is perfect for an afternoon mother-daughter tea party, a special "Alice in Wonderland" birthday party, or just a fun and relaxing after-work date. Try the Passion Fruit Tea and the Buttermilk Scones, which are served warm. Please note there are three locations for Alice's Tea Cup in New York City, so no matter where you are located, you're never too far from a magical tea party. Reservations are not needed, though there is often a short wait time for a table.
Serendipity 3
225 East 60th Street
New York, NY 10022
http://www.serendipity3.com/
Don't be fooled by the number "three" in the name of the restaurant; there is only one Serendipity in New York City, however the title comes from that fact that the restaurant was founded by three brothers. Famous even before the film Serendipity, starring Kate Beckinsdale and John Cusack, came out in 2001, Serendipity 3 is best known for its kitschy dcor and deliciously unique desserts. The Drugstore Sundae (three scoops of ice cream with one topping for $8.95) is highly recommended! Reservations are taken one month in advance and are very helpful, unless you are comfortable waiting an hour or more for a table. It's also good to know that there is a minimum spend per person at Serendipity 3.
Mars 2112
1633 Broadway
New York, NY 10019
http://www.mars2112.com/
Have you or your children ever imagined eating a hamburger or chicken tenders on the surface of Mars? Well, at Mars 2112, such dreams can come true. If you so choose, when you arrive at the restaurant, you and your party will be shuttled to Mars in a dated, but still enjoyable, space shuttle ride. Once you have reached your destination, in just a matter of minutes, you will explore the Red Planet; aliens will pop out to guide you to your table or to the arcade. Don't worry; all the aliens on Mars 2112 are very friendly and entertaining! Kids under eight love this restaurant, though parents may find the food quality and atmosphere lacking something truly special.
Wherever you chose to dine in New York City, Bon Appetite! And remember to have fun!
