Created on: January 09, 2009
It's been said that a little extra effort goes a long way. Sure, you can purchase the traditional box of candy found on a shelf at the local pharmacy this Valentine's Day, but wouldn't you rather go the extra mile?
A Valentine's Day without romance is like a birthday without a cake; it's rather disappointing. So why not plan a romantic way of celebrating Valentine's Day at home? With very little effort and a smidgen of creativity, you can make your significant other melt like icecream on a hot, summer day.
Made and Served With Love:
Nothing says "I love you" more than a heart-felt Valentine's Day gift that isn't mass manufactured. A price tag can be put on a lot of things, but it certainly can not be put on the love you have for your significant other. Instead of spending tireless hours online searching for the perfect Valentine's Day gift, spend your time constructively-making something special for the person that makes your heart skip a beat.
The Sensual Pleasure of Chocolate Consumption:
Romantic lore identifies chocolate as an aphrodisiac. Eaten for pleasure, chocolate has been studied extensively. In fact, one study on men and women, reported by the BBC, indicated that chocolate causes an increase in heart beat and brain activity. The study also revealed that pleasure associated with chocolate was four times more intense than a session of passionate kissing.
The Results Are In:
If you want things to heat up this Valentine's Day, get in your kitchen and prepare to make a Valentine's Day surprise for your chocolate-loving lover. What's required? An open mind, a few ingredients, and eagerness to turn your lover's innocent affection for chocolate into passion. Get ready to learn how to "make" love.
Things You'll Need to "Make" Love in the Kitchen:
Champagne
Fresh Strawberries (Stems Intact)
Chocolate Dip (Jar of Nutella or Hazelnut Spread)
Heavy Cream
Double Boiler or Fondue Pot
Prepare Your Valentine's Surprise:
Refrigerate the champagne. Wash, dry and refrigerate the fresh strawberries. Let them cool for one hour (chocolate hardens quicker on cold strawberries).
Setting the Mood:
While the strawberries and champagne are chilling, it's time to set the mood. Create a romantic atmosphere for two by dimming the lights and playing soft, ambient music. Since presentation is important, take your time to make sure that everything is perfect.
Heating Things Up:
Now that the strawberries have been chilled for one hour, it's time to heat things up. To begin creating your chocolate covered strawberries, place 1 cup of chocolate dip in a double boiler or fondue pot. Heat on low heat. Add 2 Tablespoons of heavy cream; stir until the chocolate sauce thickens. Prepare to impress your sweetheart as you serve romance for two. Take turns dipping the strawberries and feeding them to one another. Don't forget the champagne!
