I believe it is a natural trait of humans to strive for success and to fail often. It has been said that the traits of courage, integrity, perseverance in the face of adversity, empathy are all various facets of a winner. Every facet mentioned was a goal achieved through standing in the gap and facing the individual challenges or helping others achieve their goals thereby building themselves up as well.
You may realize through your efforts to achieve a goal that often those efforts have left you short of the mark, your goal unrealized. With continued effort and perhaps new strategies put into play you finally reach and surpass the goal you set for yourself. In overcoming difficult obstacles a person gains added strength to continue on the path they have set for themselves. A butterfly helped out out of the chrysalis will die prematurely as will the eaglet if the shell is broken open for it. The fight is what makes the butterfly, eagle or human strong enough to handle the world that they are entering. To not obtain a goal immediately is beneficial, helping you to grow strong enough to face the next obstacle that you find in your path, to vault over or smash through.
Look upon goals as being stepping stones on the path of life. Once a person has achieved their goal, immediately another goal presents itself exhibiting a situation not unlike the one Sisyphus was forced to endure.
Those individuals that attain their goals are winners, those who do not reach them are winners in training. It is premature to label a person a loser because they have not reached that lofty pinnacle of success that society has set.
You may encounter a person who's psyche has taken one blow too many through unknown tragedies and they have hit the skids. Do not count them out as losers. As suddenly as they fell, they could rise again and continue on with their dreams. All it takes is the right thought or spark of an idea, or perhaps someone believing in them enough to give them faith in themselves, or in God.
Watch out when those so called losers catch that second wind and a new focus on life and head back up. Don't get in the way, you'll appear as an obstacle to be overcome. Where do you think winners come from? They are the losers who caught a second or perhaps a seventy second chance and took it.
Those who finally achieve freedom from addiction to drugs, alcohol, massive depression or any of a thousand other tragedies are akin to the eaglet fighting its way out of the egg, overcoming its sibling in the fight for survival, finally growing mature enough to soar into the sky seeking yet another goal.
If it should happen that a person dies before reaching his or her goals in life does not mean they were losers, they ran out of time, its as simple as that. It takes everyone a different amount of time to reach their individual pinnacle or life goals.
There are many little sayings describing losers such as " The winner is always part of the answer and the loser is always part of the problem". It is never as simple as all that to say things like: " A quitter never prospers and a loser never wins". Because you see, everyone during their life has experienced failure and success in one form or another and are ultimately winners. All is relative.
