It will never happen. We will never learn to live with one another even if we want to, which we won't. Since the inception of mankind the ability to learn to live with one another has never happened so why think that now, in a nationally and globally decaying society, would we ever pretend to think that the possibility exists?
I agree and truly feel that learning to live with one another is a goal that we should all apire to but it simply caannot happen. We won't want to learn to live with one another because there will always be forces and outside influences that will not allow it to happen.
As history has proven time and time again people cannot peacefully co-exist. Either pressures from religious based influences or from politically based influences or racial influences and even from sexual influences deny us the ability to ever peacefully live with one another. There is always somebody "stirring the pot".
People will never be able to forget the past. What happened in the past will always influence what happen in the future. Imposed slavery in the early years of this nation is a perfect example. Even though it happened over one hundred years ago the tension that it created remains fresh in the minds of those that experienced it. Because of those memories racial discrimination existed, and probably still exists today in the minds of some, both black and white. In spite of all of the political and social attempts to eliminate that perception over the last century and a half those perceptions still exist. How can people learn to live with one another if there remains a perception of racism.
People will never learn to live with one another as long as somebody has something that somebody else wants. People have come to the conclusion that if somebody else has it then they should have it as well. sorry folks, the world today doesn't work that way. Currently, if you want something you have to go out and earn it and that is the way it should be. Unfortunately there are tose among us that think that if you can't earn it then it should be given to you and if that is not possible then you should just go out and take it.
People will never learn to live together as long as religious differences exist. Personally I feel that you should be able to worship whatever God you choose but as evidenced through history that is never going to happen. The same applies to political convictions. As long as there are political affiliations peaceful coexistence remains an obscure possibility.
Democracy, dictatorships, Marxism, socialistic and capitalistic points of view or forms of government will never allow us to learn to live with one another.
And, if that were not enough, the media will never let us learn to live with one another. In spite of great efforts to overcome many of the obstacle that have been made our inability to live with one another we can always count upon the media to call to our attention the isolated incidences that cause all to fall back towards our old convictions and behaviors.
Will we ever learn to live with one another? My answer is no. The best is that someday we may learn to tolerate the fact that we are all different and then we may be able to exist with one another.
