Why not? I think that there is no problem with sexual identity being taught in schools as opposed to other things that are taught to children these days. The problem with society today is the lack of communication and understanding.

Why are adults withholding information from the youth? Would it be better if they went out on their own and "experimented" struggling to grasp their sexual identity or is it better for them to live by the world's gender based stereotypes? A reason I believe that there is no problem with it being a "selectable course" is because this is when youth are exposed to different personalities and mingle with different types of people.

Earnestly speaking, society has fleshed itself out a bit but is still in some way very taboo on this subject. I can honestly say that it should be first taught in the home with children and their parents. Still though, it would be interesting to have such a course in schools because the children actually get that "hands on experience in the field."

Men are portrayed to be jocks, playboys, brazen, and tough individuals. They rarely show any emotion unless it's for aggression and are always in control. If they do not fit this criterion then they are categorized as being a nerd, gay, weak, etc.

Women are also tossed into the gender blender for always being the damsel in distress, or too emotional, secondary to men or blasted with "the only way to get a man to like you is you must be sexually provocative." Let's face it, for a country that advertises freedom, the costs of criticism and chastisement are great.

What people need to learn is to accept who they are and accept others how they are. A course in school instructing the history and present situation of sexual identity would be very eye opening for students.

They would be able to gain a better understanding and not do things just to blend in with the rest of the crowd. To me this is freedom, but the opposite is enslavement by the means of the delusional gender perception. This is school, people, and what do we go to school to do? We go to learn but in the process of learning, we interact with each other.

A perfect example is the ongoing tradition of the, infamous to some, "career day." You know when all the students find a career that identifies their future profession or at least motivates them toward it? A person who does not know their identity is like a bee looking for flowers to pollinate in the winter season.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with learning who you are being projected through a school course and definitely nothing wrong with breaking the gender chains of society that ultimately, at one point, have enslaved us all. Live and let live. Be happy and love God with all your heart.

If this country or I will even dare to say world continues to conflict the way it does on such a subject, there will be no peace. We as visual perceptive individuals are so busy identifying others and pointing the finger that most of us do not even know who we are ourselves at times. Either that or the person just does not want to accept who they are and this is not a healthy and proper way of living at all. So I'm all up for sixth period sexual identity class and willing to learn more to gain a better understanding and acceptance.
