THERE ARE ANGELS AMONG US

A long time ago, when I first got my divorce, I met an angel. My grandmother use to say that there are angels among us. I never put that saying to much thought. I was just out of a violent marriage, and I had two beautiful babies. I did not have time to wait for welfare, so that I put my children in daycare and went to work.

It was five oclock in the morning, you see I had to leave that early in the morning to get them to the daycare on time, I was walking. It was dead in the middle of winter, and I had them wrapped up pretty good ; even though I did not have a coat myself. It was a struggle one on my hip and one walking holding my hand. I was pretty loaded down with my diaper bag and things for my babies. When all of a sudden this lady stopped her car right beside me (this was on a busy road, ), and pulled out a brand new double seated baby carrier.

She said to me, here you need this more than I do. I started to cry, this was something I never did in public. Here was this lady, who did not know me from Adam, giving me her baby buggy. I thanked her with all my heart and she left. I put my babies in the buggy, and walked to the daycare. I was so grateful as I did not have family, my divorce was a fast one, and on the grounds of physical cruelty. So everyday I walked, I was afraid to run into him.

I received no child support, as he told me I would never get a dime out of him; of which was fine with me. No man had ever paid my bills, and I was not about to rely on him. My children came first. As I walked, I remembered what my grandmother told me all those years ago, that there were angels among us. Right then, understanding dawned on me, that she was not literally saying that actual angels could be seen to walk among us, but that their works would grow out into mankind.

So every time I see a person who helps someone else, I say a little prayer that these angels may always walk among us. I never saw that lady again, but I will always remember her as an angel that walked among us. So if you are reading this Lady whereever you are, thanks for being me and my childrens angel that day. I really felt that morning like there was no help in the world for me. That I was truly alone, I had asked my grandmother also what my purpose in this life was, and she replied to be someones angel. To smile at those who pass by, so that their life may grow in the sun. To put out my hand to those who need help, and not complain about it. To give and never look for a reward for doing so. That is the gift that the angels who walk among us is. That is our purpose in life, to be an angel that walks among mankind.
