I definitely feel that her support behind Obama BECAME sincere. At first, when you lose a hotly contested race, garner eight million popular votes (as she so eloquently points out) it is very difficult to plug the man/woman that defeated you. Epecially when you take into consideration that Hillary Clinton was/is an extremely ambitious woman (probably moreso than Bill, himself). As any political purists knows, she had to look out for her own interest at first. Many people would not have taken kind to her "half-stepping" in her support for Barack Obama. It really would have been a self-destructive move. Look at her now, she's the incumbent Secretary of State, how great is that?
It pays to be on the side of saving grace. I am totally convinced that she threw her support behind Obama. She held so many rallies, appeared on television TOO much for that to not be the case. As well, they're both within the same party. All sorts of crazy things are said during the primary season to get the upperhand. Once a nominee is then chosen, party members almost ALWAYS kiss and make up. I mean, John McCain didn't have an exact love affair when the current President beat him, but he supported and campaigned for him. It's a rule of thumb: Be a team player.
Because if you aren't, next time you have a chance to go anywhere, allies in Washington won't support you. Clinton, everyone, did a GREAT job standing behind Obama. Along for the ride was even Bill Clinton, arguably, a guy that had the most to loathe Obama for. That is, because of the whole racial controversy that transpired during the primary season. Bill, probably, didn't feel Barack did his best job to stand up for him, you know? I think Hillary will do fabulous as the next Secretary of State, really bringing diplomacy and understanding into Obama's incoming Administration. I don't believe they will agree on EVERYTHING. But, they will agree on MOST things. I just feel that is important. I used to think she would try and strong arm his Presidency, because she's such a controversial figure. But I don't anymore. I think they will gel together rather well. With the Bidens by their side, they have a LOT of expectations to live up to. They will; however, meet most of those expectations within the first six years or so.
I just think this is a political team made in Heaven. I can't wait until Inaguguration day. Barack Obama is the 44th President of the United States!
