"do" Relax, L'Oreal bleaching kits or the like will do fine. Just follow the instructions; it's not rocket science. Your only other expense is a reusable plastic cap which costs about two dollars.
Take your plastic hair cap and place it on the head of hair to be colored. With a marker, circle out the size of the snowcap you desire. All heads are different sizes but an average size would be about four inches in diameter. Remove the cap and cut the center area out. Place the cap back upon the head and with a crochet hook, pull out the strands that are to be colored around the center and perimeter of the cut out hole and let them fall to get a good idea of how much you wish to be colored.
Next, mix and shake up your solution and apply only to the center cut out area of the hair. Be liberal with the solution. Pile and pack the hair up on top of the head and wait for twenty-five minutes. Then, add more solution making the hair real gooey. Remove the plastic cap.
Here is my trade secret for that wonderful streaked look. Forget the foils. With an afro hair pick, gently comb all that gooey solution from the top of the head to the ends in all directions. You will see dramatic blond streaks with the thickness of the comb tines. The solution should not touch the roots; only the outside of your hair as you comb the solution down. You want the darkness of your hair underneath untouched. Now leave this for another thirty-five minutes which will make the entire blonding process one hour. Do not over comb unless you want more streaking and less contrast between the two colors.
Rinse thoroughly, condition, rinse again, fluff dry with your fingers and there you go; looking like you just walked out of the salon off Hollywood Blvd. Put on a snappy outfit and go show off.
