Ann Coulter will do anything to sell a book and make that money. She is a media hound, a sensationalist, and quite a smart lady. She may be the "Poster Woman For The American Right," but she would probably be the same for the left if they paid her as well.

My theory, those on the left are more open-minded and willing to buy her books in order to gain a better understanding of different viewpoints. Those on the right buy her books to gain a sense of accomplishment and grounding in their beliefs. However, if the roles were reversed and she was to write for the left, she would not sell as many books. It's all about the money. Right-winged individuals would not dare to buy her publications, not dare to read about an opposing opinion, or try to understand another side. And those on the left wouldn't have to read it for encouragement because they know where they stand. Like I said, she's a smart lady.

As a best-selling author who has been on that prestigious list more than a few times, she knows how to stir an audience. She will send her manuscripts to close friends for feedback, and if they cannot find a piece of controversy within the text, Coulter will rewrite it. She has said that if her books are not interesting, and do not stir up emotions locked deep inside, it isn't worth writing. She is bored with acceptance.

Perhaps Coulter's life is unfulfilled. Perhaps her personal relationships are lacking in some way. Or, perhaps she simply loves drama. I've known people like that before, who are so ungrounded and afraid of their own lives that they seek distraction in drama. I'm not saying that Coulter is one of these people; I'm simply throwing out ideas.

She is indeed a smart lady, though, and as much as I cannot respect her, I can appreciate the fact that she knows how to make money. I would never step into the dark side of human emotion to say the things that she has said, but for a money-hungry individual she has a method to her madness.

In seeping into the darkness, Coulter has said that 9-11 widows were secretly happy their husbands passed away in the collapse of the Twin Towers. She has said the single mothers are to blame for over 50% of the crime in our country. I must take a stand against this one. In an interview on The Today Show, Coulter told Hoda and Kathy that if only a woman would marry, her child would not grow up to be a criminal. Perhaps she stood step out of that small, cramped box that she spews her ideas from and realize that it is not single mothers, but society to blame. There is something wrong with a society that allows a hardworking mother strong, intelligent, loving, compassionate, independent work two jobs so that her son can play on the high school football team. Instead of blaming the mother, which simply appeals to her right-winged readers, if she were writing from the left she would consider blaming the society that does not support single mothers. But, that would mean less money for her. Heaven forbid that she take a pay cut to help out society.
