We are sexier in the UK?
According to a survey I read, we, in the UK, make love more frequently than men and women in the USA. Apparently we average about 118 times a year! Whilst the USA does it 10 times less! That about once every three days! I'm not sure of the point that these people are trying to achieve by doing these surveys but I think they shouldn't be looked on too seriously but taken with the spirit that they were hopefully done in.
What counts in a relationship is not the frequency of making love but the purpose of it. Personally my wife and I are quite a lot above the UK average, but that is because we are hopelessly in love with each other, work together, and spend 99.9% of our lives together. Oh, and she's hot! But really everybody is different and will have a frequency of their own, so to speak. I assume we are talking sex when we say making love, because years ago making love was something completely different and a 'bonk' was something you would receive on the head when walking under a low beam.
One thing that I think is crucial is that sex is talked about in a relationship as much as it is in the media! If we were to pay attention to all the coverage sex gets on every type of media possible, you would think that we were all at it like rabbits! But in a relationship I feel that it is very important to know your partner and what she needs in this area.
As a Christian, the topic of sex remains fairly taboo, which I believe is a real issue in the Christian world. It tells us clearly in the bible not to deprive ourselves of making love regularly to our spouse or it will lead to temptation, but somehow this is ignored and what we now have is the complete mess we find ourselves in, in that of all categories of people, Christians are some of the highest users of Internet pornography sites.
We shouldn't shy away from this awesome God-given blessing for us, we should embrace it and talk way more openly about it. Its sometimes feels as though some people think its of the devil and that it is evil to enjoy one another married or not. I believe in the union of marriage and that sex should be within that, but to say that if we indulge in oral sex or have some fun with a sex toy occasionally, then we deserve to go to hell, is taking it a bit far. I have a great relationship with my wife and my God and I know that he made her for me and that the union we enjoy together is his gift to us.
Anyway, if your reading this in the USA, you have some catching up to do, so I'll say goodbye and God bless!
